Zotac RTX3060 graphics card is target at affordable 1440p gaming with all details cranked up, including real-time raytracing RTX features. The 3060 Ampere has RTX-enabled gaming a lot more playable since real-time raytracing puts a heavy performance impact on your hardware. The performance is significantly higher for this generation, with NVIDIA claiming that the RTX 3060 beats the previous-generation RTX 2070 Super, a graphics card meant for exactly the same use-cases as this card. The GeForce Ampere architecture introduces NVIDIA’s 2nd generation RTX technology that combines traditional raster 3D with raytraced elements, such as lighting, reflections, shadows, and global illumination; and with Ampere, even raytraced motion-blur.

The Zotac RTX 3060 is based on GA106 silicon and difference as the recently launched RTX 3060Ti, but with less performance. It features 25 out of 38 RT Core streaming multiprocessors present on the chip, resulting in a CUDA core count of 3584, more than the 2,304 CUDA cores found on the RTX 2070 Super, which this GPU is designed to succeed. This chip comes with 112 Tensor cores, 28 RT cores, 112 TMUs, and 48 ROPs. The RTX 3060 with slower memory configuration as the RX 3060Ti, with 12 GB of 15 Gbps GDDR6 memory across a 192-bit wide memory interface. This configuration results in 360 GB/s of memory bandwidth. The 2nd generation RTX technology combines new Ampere CUDA cores with concurrent FP32+INT32 math operations, 2nd generation RT cores with double the intersection performance and hardware for raytraced motion-blur effects; and 3rd generation Tensor cores that leverage DNN sparsity to increase AI inference performance significantly.

This AMP edition in the color white. The cooler and backplate are white. As you can see the dual-fan spinner design makes the card really compact. Based on an advertised 170W TGP  the card is of course paired with 12GB GDDR6 graphics memory at 192-bit running at 15 Gbps. It is a more simplified-looking product that comes with a decent factory tweak, making it perform a few percent above reference/baseline performance. Dual refers towards the cooler with its duo of spinners.

The card is light-weight below 1kg. It is a compact design as well, measuring just 22 cm in length. The card has a vented backplate.

The memory 12GB of GDDR6 memory  have the highest amount of the memory from the top tier range of RTX 30-series GPUs: The RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti both come with 8GB of the stuff, while the RTX 3080 is fit with 10GB of GDDR6X. However, don’t get misled by the 12GB memory configuration and go for RTX3060Ti for faster memory performance.

The card has two (8+8) pin power headers rated at 375W, unfortunately, tucked away deep inside the cooling bracket, which makes them difficult to access.  The BIOS pre-overclocked offers an 1867 MHz Turbo (1780 MHz = reference).

The IO panel shows display connectors, three DisplayPort 1.4, and one HDMI 2.1 connector that will support 8K 60 Hz HDR.

Teardown

The design of the heatsink uses five heatpipes to keep the card cool. There’s also cooling for the memory chips and voltage regulation circuitry.

The backplate is made out of plastic and protects the card against damage during installation and handling.

The GPU and GDDR6 IC locations are padded as well as part of the VRM. The GPU is fed by is 9-phases through a uPI uP9512R controller. The DrMOS for the GPU is made by Alpha and Omega. Memory gets two-phases running over a uPI uP1666Q controller. The GDDR6 chips themself register back as made by Samsung K4ZAF325BM-HC16. For memory, Sinopower SM7340EHKP MOSFETs are used. You can also see two empty SMT traces for two more GDDR6 ICs. We take the photos with TIM still applied to the GPU, for the simple reason that you can observe how it’s applied and spread out over the heat spreader.

NVIDIA’s GA106 graphics processor is the company’s third GeForce Ampere architecture chip. It is produced on a 8 nanometer process at Samsung and has a transistor count of 13.3 billion with a die size of 276 mm².

The card do not have any RGB light and only White LED light.

How We Tested Zotac RTX 3060 AMP WHite

GeForce RTX 3060 is the 2nd highest mid tier graphics card in Nvidia Ampere segment. As such, our graphics workstation, based on an ASRock B550 Taichi motherboard and AMD 5600X 6 cores processor.  The ram we will be using is  G.Skill’s F4-3600C16D- 16GTZNC memory kit. ADATA XPG GAMMIX S50 Lite 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD is used as well to run with benchmark.

We will be using latest Nvidia 466.27 and Windows 10 Professional Build 21H1 19043.1023
