The new Zotac GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Amp Extreme HoloBlack is the highest segment in 3070Ti affair with a 3-slot design and triple-fan cooler, near-identical to the released Zotac GeForce RTX 3080 AMP Holo graphics card. Underneath is the Ampere GA104 GPU on Samsung’s custom 8nm node, with 8GB of super-fast GDDR6X memory.

The back of the ZOTAC RTX 3070 Ti Amp Extreme BlackHolo shows a large backplate fitting to the card which helps to cool and stiffens the card so as to not flex around. Zotac did redesign the backplate with blackholo design. Dimensions of the card are 35.5 x 15 cm, and it weighs 1864 g

The Zotac GeForce RTX 3070Ti AMP Extreme BlackHolo is fitted with 8 Gigabyte GDDR6X memory, it runs at 19 Gbps (effective data rate) and that is a lot of bandwidth. The IO panel shows three DisplayPort 1.4, and one HDMI 2.1 connectors that will bring 8K 60 Hz HDR to a single HDMI cable. No more USB type-C Virtual Link connector.

Zotac sticks to industry standard PCIe power inputs, using a 8+8+6 configuration. Combined with PCIe slot power, this configuration is rated for 450 W.

Teardown

The thermal solution uses eight heatpipes and three 90mm fans. The main heatsink not only cools the GPU, but also provides cooling for memory chips and VRM circuitry. The thermal pads on the VRM are 2.3 mm thick, and those on the memory are 2.0 mm thick.

The GA104 GPU, GPU and memory power phases, and GDDR6X memory from Micron labeled D8BGW. The GPU gets 16 phases managed by a duo uPI uP9512R multi-phase controllers. The memory is then managed by uP9511R over three phases.

The GPU VRM is 16-phase, controlled by a UPI uP9512R Multi-Phase Hybrid voltage Controller

The GPU VRM uses AOZ5311NQI DrMOS components by Alpha & Omega Semiconductor, rated for 55 A.

Zotac has been including this “super cap” for a while on some of their high-end graphics cards. It’s a capacitor with extra-large capacity that can store energy and release it quickly, which is supposed to help smoothen out GPU voltage.

For memory, OnSemi ON3103 and ON3107 mosfet

Memory voltage uses a two-phase design and is generated by an uPI uP1666Q controller.

The card has 8 GB of GDDR6X SDRAM located in 8 Gbit chips on the front side of the PCB. Micron memory chips (GDDR6X MT61K256M32JE-19G:T) are designed for an operating frequency of 1188 MHz (19 Gbps GDDR6X effective).

Zotac has equipped their card with a dual-BIOS feature; the two BIOS chips are clearly recognizable on the board. Unlike all other vendors, Zotac doesn’t provide a physical BIOS switch. Rather, you have to install the Zotac Firestorm software to toggle between the default “Performance” BIOS and a secondary “Quiet” BIOS.

GStek GS9238 is a dynamic power management controllers, features include wide input voltage
range, high efficiency and fast dynamic response power save mode, which can save battery power supply by decreasing frequency when load current falls down below preset critical current point.

The  Holtek HT32F52342 is a high performance, low power consumption 32-bit microcontrollers based around an ARM Cortex-M0+ processor core. It’s control RGB lighting for the card

However, the Amp Holo RGB lighting do not cover bottom area.

How We Test Zotac RTX3070Ti AMP EXTREME BLACKHOLO

GeForce RTX 3070Ti is the third highest end graphics card in Nvidia’s Ampere-based segment. As such, our graphics workstation, based on an ASRock B550 Taichi motherboard and AMD 5600X 6 cores processor.  The ram we will be using is  G.Skill’s F4-3600C16D- 16GTZNC memory kit. ADATA XPG GAMMIX S50 Lite 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD is used as well to run with benchmark.

We will be using latest Nvidia DCH driver 471.96 and Windows 11 Professional Build 21H2 22000.194.

Notice: During our test with resizable bar enable and disable, it made no noticeable difference in performance.
