MSI has equipped the graphics card with a full-length metal backplate that serves both structural and thermal purposes. The sturdy aluminum backplate helps reinforce the massive PCB, minimizing flex and sag that can occur due to the card’s substantial weight and large cooling assembly. MSI has also integrated thermal pads between key PCB components and the backplate, enabling additional heat dissipation from memory modules and power delivery components.

The backplate features multiple ventilation cut-outs and a large airflow pass-through section near the rear end of the card. This design allows hot air generated by the heatsink to pass through more efficiently, improving overall thermal performance and reducing heat buildup inside the chassis.

The VANGUARD SOC utilizes MSI’s latest HYPER FROZR thermal solution, combining the new STORMFORCE fan design, a large vapor chamber, and optimized Core Pipes to efficiently dissipate heat generated by the powerful Blackwell GPU. This advanced cooling system is engineered to deliver excellent thermal performance while maintaining low noise levels during gaming and content creation workloads.

The card uses a single 16-pin (12VHPWR) power plug instead of the older dual 8-pin setup.

Dual Bios mode: Silent & Gaming

Both BIOS profiles retain the same GPU specifications and factory overclock settings, meaning users do not sacrifice performance capabilities when selecting Silent Mode. The primary difference lies in the cooling and acoustic characteristics, allowing users to choose between lower temperatures or quieter operation depending on their preferences.

Gaming Mode is optimized for maximum performance by utilizing a more aggressive fan curve. The cooling fans ramp up earlier and operate at higher speeds under load, allowing the GPU to maintain lower temperatures during demanding gaming sessions, AI workloads, and content creation tasks. This mode is ideal for enthusiasts who prioritize cooling performance and sustained boost clocks over acoustic comfort.

Silent Mode is designed for users who prefer a quieter computing experience. The fan profile is tuned to operate at lower RPMs, reducing overall noise levels while still maintaining safe operating temperatures. This mode is particularly useful for everyday computing, media consumption, and lighter gaming workloads where maximum cooling performance is not required.

The graphics card features three DisplayPort 2.1b outputs and one HDMI 2.1b port, providing users with the flexibility to connect multiple displays simultaneously for gaming, content creation, productivity, and professional workloads.

How We Test MSI GeForce RTX5080 Vanguard SOC 16Gb ?

As such, our workstation, based on an MSI MEG Z890 Unify-X motherboard and Intel Ultra 9 285K  24 cores 24 threads processor.  The ram we will be using KLEVV DDR5 7200Mhz memory kit and Lexar 790 PCIe 4.0 2TB SSD is used as well to run with benchmark. On the Comparison, we will be using same setup with ASUS Prime RX9070XT OC to run side by side to see perform better.

FarCry 6

Far Cry 6 supports ray tracing at launch, with the ability to enable DXR reflections and DXR shadows. But because DXR shadows are kind of pointless and not worth the performance hit, we haven’t tested with them enabled, but I have taken a look at DXR reflections, so we’ll look at that shortly using supported hardware.
