This article will touches on what I consider to be one of the most interesting products of this generation, the new Zenbook 14XOLED Space Edition, it’s was designed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Asus sending its laptops into space in 1998. The quality of its crisp and vibrant OLED display, or the incredible performance of its Intel Alder Lake processor, the ZenBook 14X OLED Space Edition have the top notch hardware components.
Let’s us touch on the surface of the ZenBook.
The IO on the sides including two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports (support power delivery 3), a 3.5 mm jack, 3.2 Gen 2 USB-A and HDMI 2.0 ports.
Do not miss this fake ventilation hole! It’s actually a microsd card reader.
Zenbook also includes an ErgoLift hinge that tilts the laptop to a better typing position and keeping the laptop cool.
The Zenbook 14X OLED is 14-inch OLED panel. Samsung provides a WQXGA+ panel with 2880×1800 pixels (16:10). With a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a response time of 0.2 milliseconds, the vibrant display outshines any IPS model.
It’s also promises 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and PANTONE® Validated colour accuracy deliver ultra-vivid and ultra-accurate colours, and the DisplayHDR™ True Black 500 certification means users can see true blacks for enhanced realism. It’s also TÜV-certified for low blue-light emissions, ensuring the user’s eyes are cared for.
Powering this device is a very capable 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700H @2.3Ghz that’s paired with 16 GB LPDDR 5 of RAM and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. This CPU is paired with an entry-level Intel Iris Xe graphics.
For those who don’t know, Intel 12th Gen CPU lines for laptops: Alder Lake 12700H packs 6P cores and 8E cores for a total of 20 processor threads, along with 24MB of L3 cache and a 96 execution unit GPU., on the other hand, is a whole new beast. It features a far more powerful integrated graphic chip (named Intel Iris Xe Graphics), some beefed up AI processing power, and it’s manufactured on a more efficient 10 nm process, which should, in theory, also translate to better battery life. The P-cores are clocked at 2.3 GHz base and 4.7 GHz boost, while the E-cores get a 1.7GHz base and 3.5 GHz boost clock.

The ASUS NumberPad 2.0 features Precision Touchpad (PTP) technology supports up to four-finger smart gestures and it uses a touchPad that is suitable for precise mouse pointer navigation due to its average size. Both left and right mouse clicks can be triggered correctly by touching or applying pressure on the pad. There’s an icon in the upper right corner that allows a number pad to be projected onto the touchPad.
The keyboard feel excellent and are in line with the high design standards.
ZenVision is a 3.5-inch OLED monochrome display located on the lid of the laptop that can display static text or graphic animations. Space Theme mode displays an animated theme, while Smart Notifications mode can show time, date or battery status. The information displayed on ZenVision is configured via the easy-to-use MyASUS2 app.
The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition is designed to withstand the punishing demands of space travel. It is torture-tested to space-grade standards for resistance to extreme vibration and temperature, using the US Space Systems Command Standard SMC-S-016A testing protocols3. It is capable of withstanding extreme vibration that is 4 times more than our standard Military Grade durability. Additionally, it meets the US Department of Defense’s MIL-STD 810H durability standards, including power-on drop tests and operation under extreme humidity and altitude.

Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition has exceptional heat dissipation via upgraded 6 mm and 8 mm heat pipes and dual 87-blade fans that efficiently accelerates heat transfer.
The fan blades and impeller are made of a liquid-crystal polymer that allows them to be lighter and thinner than ordinary fans. Each fan blade has a 3D-curved aerodynamic design, allowing the fan to achieve better flow rate. In addition, the fans also use a fluid-dynamics bearing, which can achieve better vibration reduction and lower noise when compared to ordinary fans.
The intel core i7 – 12700H is powered by 3+1+1 power delivery.
The 4-phases power delivery is MPS2142 from Core Source Systems Co., Ltd. (MPS)
Each phase included smart MPNX 8694 Mosfet drivers and Panasonic capacitor.
