The smartphone will feature a 5.15″ Full HD display with an IPS matrix, 2.5D protective glass and a maximum brightness of 600 nt thanks to the additional system of the 16 LEDs below the screen. The flagship is available in two versions with different amount of RAM and flash memory — 3 / 64 GB and 4 / 128 GB. Both versions run on top Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processors and Adreno 530 GPU core is responsible for the graphics.
One of the main features of the Xiaomi Mi 5s is the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. It is located at the usual place — directly on the glass under the display. However, according to Xiaomi engineers, it is more accurate and reliable than conventional scanners in mechanical buttons. Just like its predecessor, USB Type-C, dual SIM capabilities, and Quick Charge 3.0 on board.
As for the photo and video features Mi 5s, the flagship is equipped with 13 MP main camera, Sony IMX378 sensor, PDAF phase detection autofocus and f / 2.0 aperture. The front camera is 4 MP with wide viewing angle of 80 degrees and the ability to make video calls in 1080p quality.
Among the interfaces of Xiaomi Mi 5s you can find a dual band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. In addition, the smartphone has an NFC chip.
Shared specs between the Mi5s and its Plus sibling include the Snapdragon 821, 64GB or 128GB of UFS 2.0 storage, 4MP selfie cam, USB-C, dual SIM, and QC3.0. Everything else is different; the Plus has a 5.7″ 1080p display, 4GB or a whopping 6GB of DDR4 RAM, the aforementioned dual 13MP cameras, and a massive 3800mAh cell (seriously impressive for a 7.95mm-thick phone).
Pricing for China has been announced, and it’s pretty incredible. The 3GB/64GB Mi5s will retail for just 1999 yuan ($300) and the 4GB/128GB Mi5s will go for 2299 yuan ($345). The 4GB/64GB Mi5s Plus will also sell for 2299 yuan ($345), and the 6GB/128GB Plus will cost you 2599 yuan ($390). All models will be available in gray, gold, silver, and pink (I refuse to call it rose gold). The first flash sale will take place on September 29th.
