The MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Armor 6G OC Edition, which aimed at the mainstream segment with a 449 SGD price. It’s come factory pre-overclocked on that custom PCB fitted with a TwiNFrozr VI cooler and packed with 6GB GDDR5 video memory. The new GeForce GTX 1060 chipset is based on Pascal architecture, fabbed at a 16 nm FinFET. As it turns out, the smaller 16 nm FinFET fabrication process is impressive on the improvement over lower power, lower temperance and increase performance compare to their previous Maxwell 28nm architecture design.
However, the MSI Armor edition is a slightly overclocked “Boost clock 1759Mhz”, dual TORX fans, 5 power phases + 1 for VRM and a 8-pin power connector.

The back of the PCB didn’t come with a back plate on this model. The matte black coating looks clean and organized.
The new ARMOR 2X Thermal Design uses the patented TORX Fan technology also found on the award winning TWIN FROZR VI graphics cards and Advanced Airflow Control for enhanced cooling performance. MSI’s Zero Frozr technology stops the fans in low-load situations such as web browsing or light gaming to remain fully silent.
Display connectivity on the MSI GTX 1060 Armor includes three DisplayPort 1.4, single HDMI 2.0 and a DVI-D Dual-Link output.
The MSI GTX 1060 Armor features a custom PCB but power is provided through PCI-Express 3.0 x16 Lane [75watts] and a single 8-Pin power connector. The card has an official TDP of 120Watts and recommended power supply 400watts.

After removing the heat sink fan, we can see the components that not only adds durability to the PCB but offers a cooling solution for memory chips and VRMs underneath it. The card features a customer PCB and crafted Military Class 4 components 5+1 phase PWM.

The component selection does follow MIL-STD-810G certification, these components have proven to be able to withstand the torturous circumstances in both gaming and overclocking.

The MSI Armor 2X thermal design is equipped with a massive heatsink with several aluminum fins that cover the entire length of the card. There are several copper heatpipes that dissipate heat from the GPU to the aluminum fins that cooled off by the air flow provided by the TORX fans.
